PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 4-8
MINI-MEDICAL SCHOOL 1: Forensics & Genetics edition (June 2-6, 2025)
Students will undergo a hands-on laboratory medicine program where they will learn about select diseases and pair them with relevant lab testing. They will create DNA models, and using those models, see how changes in DNA structure results in diseases such as sickle cell anemia. In addition, students will solve a murder mystery using forensic skills that depend on laboratory techniques such as ABO blood typing, polymerase chain reaction , gel electrophoresis, hair analysis and DNA fingerprinting. Tuition is $1000.
MINI-MEDICAL SCHOOL 2: Emergency Medicine edition (June 16-20, 2025) Students are introduced to the wonders of medicine through hands-on exploration and lectures. Topics covered include asthma, diabetes, toxicology, burn and wound care. Students will also get their own suturing kit, learn how to splint broken bones and control life-threatening bleeding. Students become certified in First Aid by the American Red Cross. Tuition is $1000.
MINI-MEDICAL SCHOOL 3: Heart & Brain edition (July 14-18, 2025)
Students learn how to take a patient history and obtain a review of systems. We will learn to use the Physician's tools- such as the stethoscope, otoscope, sphygmomanometer & more. We will build human brain models and make our own brain hats. We master CPR and resuscitation on mannequins. Students also get to test their knowledge in mini competitions with prizes. Students become certified in Pediatric CPR and AED by the American Red Cross. Tuition is $1000.
